January 17, 2010

Dear Friend of Liberty,

On Friday night, C4L officially kicked off A New Decade of Liberty as a standing-room-only crowd of nearly a thousand or more excited patriots packed the Capitol Ballroom at the Sheraton Atlanta to hear Congressman Ron Paul and Tom Woods and to spend a fun, memorable night among like-minded people.

Our Freedom Celebration brought together supporters from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, and many more states.

Attendees enjoyed getting to know one another during a special “meet your neighbor” time, and six supporters won prizes in our “Raffle for the Republic,” including the grand prize ticket to Saturday morning’s private briefing with Dr. Paul!

Congressman Paul capped off the night by remarking on all we have accomplished in the past couple years, delivering his thoughts on the critical issues of the day, and expressing his excitement for what our movement has yet to achieve.

Throughout Saturday, Conference participants were busy in training sessions gathering information and sharpening the tools they need to take back our Republic and reclaim our lost freedoms.  We’re looking forward to successfully wrapping our Conference up on Sunday.

As I announced at Friday’s Celebration, our Atlanta Regional Conference is only the beginning of a series of C4L events taking place all over the country this year.

Campaign for Liberty’s 2010 Regional Conference series will be coming to Iowa in the late spring and New Hampshire in early fall.

Stay tuned to CampaignForLiberty.com for details on these future Regional Conferences and for updates on our next major event: ”

Campaign for Liberty at CPAC 2010” in Washington, D.C. on February 18-20.

As we start A New Decade of Liberty, I want to thank you again for all of your hard work to defend and promote our message of peace, sound money, and freedom.

I greatly look forward to working with you in 2010 and seeing you at our C4L events!

In Liberty,

John Tate

Dear C4L Member,

Don’t let the establishment convince you otherwise:  the fight to prevent big government from confiscating even more of our health care freedom is not over.  In fact, the next three weeks will be the most critical time for you to make your voice heard.

Simply put, congressmen and senators are in a panic as polling shows Americans are turning strongly against Obama’s massive takeover of health care.  Whether you’ve contacted your senators repeatedly or not, now is the time to act.

I’ve included contact information for your representative and senators near the end of this email because, if we are to bring real reform to the American health care system, we have to immediately turn up the pressure on Congress.

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid know that the majority of Americans stand with us in opposing their power grab. That’s why they’re trying to skip the committee process and are instead working behind closed doors to take away more of your freedoms.

And their backroom dealing is making Americans even more outraged – especially since Candidate Obama promised an open process.

And this candidate of “hope and change” is deservedly taking hits for breaking his repeated promises to publicly air health care negotiations and avoid the kind of backroom negotiating that is going on right now.

To hear these promises straight from then-candidate Obama, click on the image below:

http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog.php?view=31098

Obama, Pelosi, and Reid aren’t doing anything out of the ordinary.  They’re just once again demonstrating how much they love politics as usual.

Prove to them you will no longer stand for it.

Contact the Speaker’s office at (202) 225-0100, the Senate Majority Leader’s office at (202) 224-3542, and the White House at (202) 456-1414.

And call your representative and senators at the following numbers:

Rep. Lincoln Davis — (202) 225-6831
Senator Lamar Alexander — 202-224-4944
Senator Bob Corker — 202-224-3344

Click here to get even more contact information.

Tell your representative and senators you not only want transparency in all the health care negotiations, you want them to oppose stripping away even more of our liberties by rejecting the Pelosi and Reid health care bills.

We can revolutionize health care in this country by increasing choices, bringing down prices, and expanding freedom, but we must first stop this latest bureaucratic nightmare.

Please contact the White House and Congress immediately and repeatedly!

In Liberty,

John Tate
President

P.S. The fight is not over, but time is quickly growing short. Contact your elected officials and let them know you not only want transparency, you want them to oppose the Pelosi and Reid bills and reject this latest attempt at intruding into more of our health care decisions.

Dear C4L Member,

On January 15-17, Campaign for Liberty is coming to the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel for our Atlanta Regional Conference.

I wanted to make sure you were the first to know about an exciting new addition to our Conference agenda.

When you

sign up for our Conference’s top-notch grassroots training (now available at our lowest price ever – just $65), you will also gain access to an Economic Liberty Forum featuring three of the Mises Institute’s leading representatives: Lew Rockwell, Tom Woods, and Thomas DiLorenzo.

For an hour and a half on Saturday, January 16, these three speakers will each tackle an important economic topic and provide you with the knowledge you need to effectively defend the sound money message.

Thomas DiLorenzo will speak on “The Inherent Corruption of Central Banking.”  Tom Woods will examine the question “Does American History Prove We Need the Fed?” by looking at the booms and busts of the 19th century.  And Lew Rockwell will explain “The Misesian Vision.”

The audience will be able to ask questions at the end of the three speeches as time allows.

This is your chance to get an in-depth look at Austrian economics from the experts and be equipped with the arguments to defend it.

And don’t forget, when you purchase your ticket for the training, you also have the opportunity to sign up for private briefings with Congressman Paul, Lew Rockwell, and Thomas DiLorenzo, as well as a private reception with Dr. Paul, Lew Rockwell, and Tom Woods!

If you have already purchased tickets for the Conference or any related event, you can reserve your spot for additional activities, including the private briefings and reception, the same way you registered for the Conference. Just uncheck the boxes of the events you are already scheduled to attend and then select the new event you are interested in attending.

December 11, 2009

Dear C4L Member,

Far from fading away like the establishment expected, Congressman Paul’s message of freedom, peace, and prosperity continues to garner unprecedented coverage.

After a tremendous string of media hits to start December, Ron Paul’s biggest television appearance yet will come this Tuesday, December 15, as he co-hosts CNBC’s Squawk Box from 8-9am eastern!

It is incredible for a member of Congress not in his party’s leadership to be receiving the amount of attention Ron Paul has seen in recent months.  Our movement is truly making great progress.

Thank you for continuing to follow Dr. Paul’s media appearances.  You can be sure the producers take notice of the increased viewerships their shows receive when they interview Congressman Paul.

Tune in to CNBC’s Squawk Box this Tuesday from 8-9am eastern and support Ron Paul’s message of economic freedom!

In Liberty,

John Tate

President

P.S. If you live in Georgia or the surrounding states, don’t forget that Ron Paul will be coming to Atlanta for our Atlanta Regional Conference in January 2010!  Click here for more details.

November 25, 2009

Dear C4L Member,

On January 15-17, 2010, hundreds of Campaign for Liberty members will join Ron Paul and several special guests at the Sheraton Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia to show the establishment politicians and talking heads that we have had enough of their spending, regulations, interventions, and other dead-end policies.

Our Atlanta Regional Conference will be dedicated to kicking off a new year of action and ushering in A New Decade of Liberty!

Big government bureaucrats have had their way for far too long, and the results speak for themselves.

A $12 trillion national debt.  Almost an additional $12 trillion in bailouts and loans.  Troops stretched all around the world in over 170 countries.  And a national health care takeover nightmare that threatens you with a fine and even possible jail time if you don’t have a government-approved plan.

We have the message.  We have the movement.  We have the motivation.  And we have never been so strong.

If we stick together and stay the course, this is the decade we can turn back the tide and reclaim our Republic.

Our Campaign for Liberty Atlanta Regional Conference will:

  • Strengthen your understanding of history and foundational principles necessary to maintain liberty.
  • Teach you how to persuasively communicate our movement’s mission and message.
  • Train you in how to recruit, equip, and mobilize an army of informed citizens and build the organizational structure necessary to win.
  • Help you master the political process on the local, state, and national levels.

Spend time with fellow liberty-minded activists, learn about history and current events from a freedom perspective you won’t hear from the mainstream media, build your local organizations, and get ready to reclaim our country with top-notch training from seasoned experts.

Tickets for our grassroots training sessions are available for their lowest price ever – just $65!  Seats are sure to fill up fast as more details are released, so reserve your spot today by signing up at our Atlanta Regional Conference event page.

Individual sponsorships are also available.  Click here for more information.

Regional Conference attendees can book their rooms at the Sheraton Atlanta for the C4L special rate of $109.00 for a single/double and $119.00 for a triple/quad. You must make your reservations by Wednesday, December 30 to get our special conference rate.  Reservations made after December 30 will be accepted at the Hotel’s prevailing rate and based on room type availability.

Click here to get more information on the C4L special conference rate at the Sheraton Atlanta.

This January, let’s show our country that legitimate change is finally on its way.

I look forward to seeing you at our Atlanta Regional Conference as we kick off A New Decade of Liberty!

Dear Friend of Liberty,

We have all worked so hard to make an Audit of the Federal Reserve a reality.  Together, we have led the fight to get congressional hearings, 308 cosponsors, and unprecedented attention around the country.

Now, you and I face our biggest challenge yet.  And Ron Paul needs your help!

Mel Watt (D-NC), Chairman of the Monetary Policy Subcommittee, has sided with banking interests and is working to gut substantial audit provisions from H.R. 1207.  The bill Congressman Watt has sent to the full Financial Services Committee contains no audit of the Fed’s monetary policy-making authority or transparency of the Fed’s secret agreements with foreign central banks.

Without these provisions, a so-called “audit” of the Fed would be worthless.

The full Financial Services Committee is likely to vote on this bill either later this week or early next.

Congressman Paul will offer an amendment to restore the provisions contained in H.R. 1207 to audit monetary policy and activity with foreign central banks. Thirteen of the 41 Democrats and all 29 Republicans on the Committee have cosponsored H.R. 1207, and if they hold the line, we will have the votes to win and restore our audit.

Dr. Paul has shot a YouTube video for Campaign for Liberty explaining the situation in more detail.  Click here to watch the video.

Pressure on the Democrat House Financial Services Committee members is critical!  Below is a list of Democrats who have cosponsored.  Please call them and urge them to vote “Yes” on the Paul Amendment. Click on their names to get their web contact information.

1. Rep. John Adler, NJ (202) 225-4765

2. Rep. Travis Childers, MS (202) 225-4306

3. Rep. Steve Driehaus, OH (202) 225-2216

4. Rep. Alan Grayson, FL (202) 225-2176

5. Rep. Rubén Hinojosa, TX (202) 225-2531

6. Rep. Suzanne Kosmas, FL Toll Free: 1-877-956-7627

7. Rep. Dan Maffei, NY (202) 225-3701

8. Rep. Brad Miller, NC (202) 225-3032

9. Rep. Walt Minnick, ID (202) 225-6611

10. Rep. Ed Perlmutter, CO (202)-225-2645

11. Rep. David Scott, GA (202) 225-2939

12. Rep. Brad Sherman, CA (202) 225-5911

13. Rep. Jackie Speier, CA (202) 225-3531

When contacting these members, remember that up to this point, these members have been allies on this issue.  A civil yet firm tone should be kept during these calls.  They should be thanked for their cosponsorship, told that Mel Watt’s changes to the bill are unacceptable, and urged to hold the line and honor their promise to support transparency at the Fed by voting “Yes” for the Paul amendment.

It is also important that we contact Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and urge them to schedule a standalone, up or down vote on the real Audit the Fed bill.

Rep. Barney Frank: (202) 225-5931

Speaker Nancy Pelosi: (202) 225-0100

Now is a crucial time for Audit the Fed.  If these 13 Democrats hold the line, Ron Paul and C4L can win this battle.  But, they must vote “Yes” on the Paul amendment when the full committee votes.

Together, you and I can win this fight.

In Liberty,

John Tate
President

Dear Defender of Liberty,

For the first time since his 2008 presidential campaign, Congressman Ron Paul is returning to South Carolina and Iowa this November!

You won’t want to miss these exciting events, as Campaign for Liberty teams with Young Americans for Liberty to bring Dr. Paul to the University of South Carolina on November 9 and to Iowa State University on November 13.

Dr. Paul’s South Carolina and Iowa trips are garnering lots of attention.  CNN, The Los Angeles Times, and The Wall Street Journal are just a few of the outlets who have already covered these events.

On November 9, Campaign for Liberty, Young Americans for Liberty, the USC Honors College, and the Carolina Debate Union will host a rally with Dr. Paul at the Carolina Coliseum on the campus of the University of South Carolina.

Congressman Paul will speak on “The Politics of Tolerance,” highlighting the importance of civility and tolerance in politics and everyday life.

The event will start at 7:00 pm eastern, and it is free and open to the public.  RSVP here.

On Friday, November 13, Iowa Campaign for Liberty and the ISU chapter of Young Americans for Liberty are teaming up to hold a rally at the Benton Auditorium at Iowa State University Center’s Scheman Building.  This event starts at 7 pm central, and it is also free and open to the publicRSVP here.

Dear Patriot:

Campaign for Liberty believes it is time to reform the way health care is delivered in America. Years of ruinous government intervention, excessive regulation, and corporatism have damaged the patient-doctor relationship and driven up consumer costs.

The solution to our health care dilemma will not come from some grand scheme concocted by the same people who ran our economy into the ground and who continue to accumulate trillions of dollars in debt.

It will come from choosing freedom by ending government meddling in health care, protecting patient privacy, returning more of our hard-earned tax dollars to us, and ensuring the federal government does not block any information about alternative treatments.

Congressman Ron Paul, an OB-GYN who has delivered more than 4,000 babies, has introduced several pieces of legislation in Congress to bring true change to health care and to protect the American people from further government intrusion.

H.R. 2629, the Coercion is Not Health Care Act, stops government from taking even more of our money and railroading us into its health care scheme by preventing any individual or agency in the federal government from requiring anyone to purchase health insurance.  H.R. 2629 also prohibits conditioning the receipt of any government benefit or participation in any government program on the purchase or maintenance of health insurance.

H.R. 1495, the Comprehensive Health Care Reform Act of 2009, allows all Americans to pay their health care bills through the method that suits them best by providing all Americans with a tax credit for 100% of health care expenses (fully refundable against both income and payroll taxes), allowing individuals to roll over unused amounts in cafeteria plans and Flexible Savings Accounts (FSA), providing a tax credit for premiums for a high-deductible insurance policy connected with a Health Savings Account (HSA) and allowing seniors to use funds in an HSA to pay for a medigap policy, as well as making all medical expenses tax deductible by repealing the 7.5% threshold for the deduction of medical expenses.

H.R. 1498, the Freedom from Unnecessary Litigation Act of 2009, addresses rising medical malpractice costs by providing a tax credit for negative outcomes insurance purchased prior to medical treatment and by preventing medical malpractice awards obtained through binding arbitration from being taxed.

As Dr. Paul said in his speech introducing H.R. 1498, “Relying on negative outcomes insurance instead of litigation will also reduce the costs imposed on physicians, other health care providers, and hospitals by malpractice litigation.”

H.R. 2630, the Protect Patients and Physicians Privacy Act, allows patients and physicians to opt-out of any government-mandated or -funded system of electronic health care records and repeals the federal law creating an “unique patient identifier.”  It also denies the use of federal funds to advance the use of standard unique health identifiers in any federal, state, or private health care plan.

H.R. 3394, the Freedom of Health Speech Act, requires the FTC to actually prove health care claims are false before preventing those claims from being made, and H.R. 3395, the Health Freedom Act, ends the FDA’s attempts to censure truthful health claims.

These are just a few of steps Congressman Paul has taken in Congress to address the health care crisis.

Click here to get contact information for your representatives and urge them to support Dr. Paul’s health care reform legislation.

And be sure to visit Dr. Paul’s congressional website, where you can get information on all the legislation he has sponsored and cosponsored in the current Congress and several previous ones, read his speeches introducing his legislation and remarking on other efforts, and learn more about his work to restore respect for the Constitution in Washington.

The federal government has meddled in our health care affairs long enough.  It’s time to choose freedom.

It’s time to make sure Americans can receive efficient, effective health care by unleashing the power of the free market.

In Liberty,

JFT
John Tate
President

P.S. Contact Congress today and let them know it’s time to bring true change to health care by supporting Ron Paul’s health care reform legislation.  And be sure to remind them of your opposition to all attempts to further raise taxes on any American to pay for health care or to force us to purchase a government-approved health insurance plan.

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Earlier today, Senators Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Bob Corker (R-TN) introduced “The Federal Reserve Accountability Act,” an attempt to kill HR 1207/S 604 by passing a bill that prevents a full audit and full transparency from America’s secretive central bank.

While language in this bill would permit a limited audit of the Fed’s actions in the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) and similar high profile bailouts, it would not allow an audit to review the Fed’s inflation of the money supply or its agreements with foreign central banks, among other shortcomings.

Additionally, the names of the institutions who received the funds would not be available until one year after each “emergency” program ended, and you know how quickly the federal government likes to end programs.

Click here to get the contact information for your senators and urge them not to support this attempt at stopping our historic effort to force the Fed into a full scale audit.

You see, you and I have the FED and their internationalist supporters in the Senate running scared.

We’ve seen it time and time again in recent months.

Now, this is how they will fight back — by having establishment senators who oppose a full audit the Fed, proposing watered down compromises in an attempt to sabotage our real goal.

We knew this moment would come.  Now you and I must fight back.

Seventy-five percent of the American people, over two thirds of the House of Representatives, and over a quarter of the Senate support Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed legislation.

With those historic levels of support, there is no excuse for settling for anthing less than a full Audit the Fed bill.  Anything less is merely an attempt to stop our efforts as we get closer to passage of a real bill.

The freedom movement will not back down on requiring transparency and accountability from an institution that has helped to destroy our economy.  This is another test of our strength and will.

Let’s finish what we’ve started.  Take action to stop this dangerous attempt to stop the real Audit the Fed bill TODAY!

Find contact information for your senators here and read more at CampaignforLiberty.com.

Let your senators know you expect them to support the American people’s demand for full transparency, not some watered down measure designed to stop a full audit!

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Today, Organizing for America (a continuation of the Obama campaign) is trying to influence Congress to adopt government-run health care by making 100,000 calls to Capitol Hill.

Our plan is to counter their efforts by having our dedicated grassroots activists and supporters make their voices heard in support of liberty and in opposition to this big government plan.

Let’s make 100,000 calls to Congress in support of true health care reform: getting the federal government out, repealing current stifling regulations, and setting the market free to promote competition and provide efficient, effective health care.

In Liberty,

Dear Friend of Liberty,

September was one of the busiest months for Campaign for Liberty members across the country.  Beginning with the 9/12 March in D.C., then the Mass Action Day in support of H.R. 1207 and S. 604, and finally traveling to Valley Forge for the Northeast Regional Conference, grassroots activists from around the country had the chance to participate in an action-packed month.

Before we get into highlighting these major nationwide events, here are some reports we have received from state activists who are working hard to achieve true, lasting change starting in their local neighborhoods:

Arizona:  Campaign for Liberty members took part in an annual Constitution Fair in Gilbert, Arizona.  Annette Freeman was excited to meet members of Campaign for Liberty she had never met before and Ron Paul supporters who were previously unaware of C4L.  “That was enough reason for me to realize that we have to keep doing these community events.  Besides, it’s FUN!” Freeman exclaimed.

California:  In previous state reports, we have mentioned that the Alameda County GOP’s original resolution in support of Audit the Fed had inspired similar resolutions in other places in California and all across America.  Now, the California GOP has followed the lead of these local groups and adopted a resolution stating “that the California Republican Party, in defense of the United States Constitution, STRONGLY URGES the representatives of the 111th United States Congress to support the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009 as set forth in H.R. 1207 and S. 604.”

“Several members of the Campaign for Liberty including Matt Heath, Walter Stanley, David Latour, and David Ewing spent hours emailing, calling, and speaking in person with delegates of the California Republican Party over the course of the last 3 weeks in order to gain their support of the resolution,” writes Jerry Salcido.

Click here to read the full resolution.  If your local or state Republican Party chapter (or any other political party chapter) has not yet passed a resolution in support of Audit the Fed, be sure to contact them right away!

Michigan:  In Detroit, members participated in the 35th annual “Dally in the Alley.”  Co-Interim State Coordinator David Dudenhoefer gave a speech from their “soapbox” in addition to having a table at the event.  Throughout the event, they collected over 300 signatures for S. 604, which they delivered to their senators during the Mass Action Day.  Videos of the event can be seen here.

New York:  On September 29, Ron Paul headed to New York for a full day of activities.  After a morning book signing at Borders Books for his new book, End the Fed, Dr. Paul led our New York members in a spontaneous march to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.  The day was capped off by his second appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Never before have our liberties faced so many threats from all sides, but never before has the freedom movement been in a better position to stand up for the principles that made this nation great.

Not content to watch as our government grows larger and our wallets get smaller paying for it, you have taken to the streets to petition for change, to educate your countrymen, and to make your voices heard.

You continue to contact your elected representatives about issues that are important to you, hold rallies in support of legislation, and submit pieces to your local papers for publication.

Hundreds of thousands of patriots showed up for the 9/12 March in Washington, D.C. to express their outrage at our government’s economic policies.  Pictures and video of the event can be seen here and here.  Our Harford, Maryland C4L group took twelve full buses!

C4L was an official cosponsor of the March, and I was able to address the crowd on the need to Audit the Fed.

But not all the action on 9/12 was in D.C.  In San Juan Capistrano, California, C4L members participated in a local Tea Party where they gathered over 1,000 petitions!

On September 15 (the day before the official release of End the Fed), C4L held a nationwide Audit the Fed Mass Action Day to build support for S. 604, the Federal Reserve Sunshine Act.  Prior to this event, members spent several weeks gathering petitions to deliver to their senators’ local offices.  Meanwhile, C4L National staff joined several volunteers in taking over 160,000 petitions to Capitol Hill.  There were four full boxes for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi alone!

In Illinois, marches were held in Springfield and Chicago.  Check out these other reports from Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New York, and Washington.

As part of our Mass Action Day activities, we held a competition to see which individual could collect the most petition signatures and which state could collect the most based on the percentage of their total population.  Congratulations to Debi Longarello in Florida, Rob Bulas in Ohio, and Brent Roose in Illinois for collecting 1,000 or more petitions!  And congratulations to Washington State for collecting a total of 7,180 unique signatures.  Click here to see C4L Director of Membership Services Deb Wells’ report on our top signature gatherers.

Later that week, over 600 grassroots activists descended on historic Valley Forge, PA to train to take their country back at our Northeast Regional Conference.

Highlights of the event included Dr. Paul’s first official End the Fed book signing and a Friday morning End the Fed breakfast talk by Congressman Paul that was covered by CSPAN’s Book TV.

Joining Dr. Paul for the weekend’s events were Judge Andrew Napolitano, British Member of Parliament Daniel Hannan, bestselling author and historian Tom Woods, Euro Pacific Capital President Peter Schiff, the American Conservative Defense Alliance’s Phil Giraldi, and New Jersey State Assemblyman Mike Doherty. This powerful lineup of speakers combined to give memorable, motivational speeches covering a range of topics including the Patriot Act, our failed interventionist foreign policy, and the current economic crisis.

Click here to view pictures from the event and visit our YouTube channel for videos from Valley Forge.

Daniel Hannan mentioned the Conference in two blog posts in the United Kingdom’s Telegraph, writing that those who attended “see themselves, with some justice, as the true heirs of the Republic, keeping faith with the vision of the Founding Fathers and the promise of the Constitution.”

Read more about our Conference with reports from some of the attendees featured here, here, and here.

Your efforts are beginning to be acknowledged on the national level, as demonstrated by an article in The Wall Street Journal covering Audit the Fed.  In addition, the fundraising ability of our movement was written about in The Washington Post!

After many months, your diligence and determination to push H.R. 1207/S. 604 resulted in an historic Financial Services Committee hearing on September 25.  Tom Woods appeared before the Committee to argue for a full audit, and Federal Reserve General Counsel Scott Alvarez testified on behalf of the Fed.  Matt Hawes captured the atmosphere of the hearing when he wrote, “Although the congressmen at Friday’s hearing were interested in auditing the Fed, they were most motivated by the fact that their constituents just wouldn’t stop seeking their support for it. They knew they would have to answer for their position.”

Congressman Ed Royce from California actually referred to Ludwig von Mises’ criticisms of the Fed while questioning the Fed’s General Counsel, and he engaged in a discussion of Austrian business cycle theory while questioning Tom Woods.

Thank you for your hard work in this fight for liberty.  You have sacrificed your time, talents, and treasure to take your country back from those who want to increase our government and finish shredding our Constitution, and you are having a substantial impact!

If you have a success story you would like to see highlighted in future reports, please send it to us at StateStories@CampaignforLiberty.com.  Be sure to check our “Recent Member Posts” section on www.CampaignforLiberty.com to read even more reports from your fellow activists on the state and local levels.

Dear Friend of Liberty:

Current reports indicate Senator Max Baucus’ Senate Finance Committee is preparing to vote on their version of President Obama’s health control scheme tomorrow.

One component of Baucus’ plan is the mandate that will force most Americans to either have government-approved coverage or to pay a tax penalty enforced by the IRS.

If we take action now, we may be able to stop the Baucus bill from ever reaching the Senate floor. This is a key vote for the administration and a perfect time for us to turn up the heat on Congress.

Click here for a list of Senate Finance Committee members with their contact information linked to their names.

The Committee’s main office number is (202) 224-4515.

Tell them to stand up for the American people by opposing this latest power grab.  We agree that the status quo has to change, but government intervention in the health care market created this problem.  More intervention is guaranteed to only make it much worse.

This fight will be harder to win once the bill reaches the Senate floor.  Take action today and help stop Obama’s big government health control scheme while it’s still in Committee!

In Liberty,

John F. Tate

Dear Friend of Liberty:

On October 28, hundreds of longtime conservative activists and newcomers to the movement will gather at the Arlington Rosslyn Hyatt in Arlington, Virginia, to commemorate the 35th anniversary of The Conservative Caucus, which was founded by one of our Rally for the Republic speakers and my good friend, Howard Phillips.

Throughout the decades since its founding, The Conservative Caucus has consistently championed limited government, national sovereignty, and a return to constitutional principles against encroachments from big government proponents.

Congressman Ron Paul will serve as Honorary Chairman for the event and will also be the night’s keynote speaker.

For more information, including ticket prices and sponsorship details, visit The Conservative Caucus’ event website here.

I look forward to seeing you in Arlington, Virginia, on October 28 as we join Ron Paul and hundreds of others in celebrating the work of Howard Phillips and The Conservative Caucus over the last thirty-five years.

Sincerely,

John F. Tate

Dear Patriot:

Please take your time and read this email carefully.

Because if a bill quietly sneaking its way through Congress passes, an email like this could be the last non-government message to ever hit your inbox.

In fact, someday you may even find yourself unable to log in to your email in the first place!

I know what you’re thinking: Maybe this is just another Internet hoax.

I wish it was.

But Barack Obama and Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) want to make this nightmare a reality.  That’s why Rockefeller recently introduced S. 773, “The Cybersecurity Act of 2009.”

Initial cosponsors include Senators Evan Bayh (D-IN), Bill Nelson (D-FL) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME).

You see, Barack Obama is seeking sweeping new powers to “shut down” all private internet in the event of a “cybersecurity emergency” — a vague term that the President can define at his discretion.

And Rockefeller’s bill gives Barack Obama just what he wants.

That’s why this expansive new power grab should really be called “The Internet Takeover Bill.”

As you know, the Internet has developed into an independent sphere where 1st Amendment Rights can still be (fairly) freely exercised.

It’s also become an important outlet for liberty-minded speech, cutting around the Obama-worship and corporate censorship of the mainstream media.

And we’ve already seen the Obama Administration’s reaction to any online speech they deem “fishy.”

In July, the Administration called upon Americans to report their friends’ and neighbors’ emails to help Barack Obama silence the “disinformation” about the Obamacare bills in Congress.

Well now Barack Obama wants to cut out the middle man.

If the Internet Takeover Bill passes, Barack Obama can silence his dissenters directly by ordering a shutdown of the U.S. Internet.

That’s right, under this bill Barack Obama can order all non-government U.S. networks to shutdown from the Internet.

But that’s not all.

Even outside of periods of White House-declared “emergency,” this bill mandates that private-sector networks only be managed by government-licensed “cybersecurity professionals.”

If you think dealing with your office IT department is bad now, just wait until they’re federally-licensed bureaucrats.

And God forbid you like to visit websites that spread “fishy disinformation” like free-market healthcare solutions; passing socialized medicine could soon become enough of an “emergency” for Barack Obama to shut them down.

You know, for the public good.

Well I know I like writing to you, and I hope you like hearing from me.

Or if not me, at least you probably like staying in touch with your family and friends, and having access to uncensored news and current events.

And that’s why I hope you’ll help Campaign for Liberty stop the Internet Takeover Bill by signing our Internet User’s Mandate to Congress.

Today, legislation like this — built on the same statist principles as the infamous Patriot Act — must sneak through Congress quietly.

They know Americans are no longer willing to swallow this swill “for our own good.”

And it’s especially critical that Campaign for Liberty and other fellow R3volutionaries fight this power grab.

Can you imagine how easily those in power could fabricate an “emergency” on a big money bomb day for a strong liberty candidate threatening the establishment?

Or how about message boards vital to planning and freedom rallies and protests of socialized medicine?

With “right-wing extremists” freely and visibly exercising their 2nd Amendment rights at such events, no doubt the White House could declare “emergency” and shut down all online planning.

I don’t want to see good politicians lose potential millions or demonstrations of liberty extinguished. I hope you don’t either.

That’s why I hope you’ll sign your Internet User’s Mandate and make a donation right now to Campaign for Liberty to make sure that never happens.

We’re going to fight this bill hard, because it’s clear that the Internet is the next frontier for liberty politics, and Campaign for Liberty is right on the forefront.

So please click here to sign your Internet User’s Mandate to Congress in opposition to Barack Obama’s Internet Takeover and Shutdown Bill.

And in addition to signing your mandate, please make a generous contribution of $250, $100 or $50 so we can fight this Internet takeover.

We need to fight to make sure Barack Obama doesn’t disconnect your computer, shut down your favorite websites, or block all your emails.

And frankly with Audit the Fed, Cap and Tax and socialized healthcare debates, Campaign for Liberty is stretched pretty thin.

And unlike the government we don’t print, borrow or take money by force (taxes).  Our only revenue comes from voluntary contributions from liberty activists like you.

We need you to stay educated and active.

We’ve put too much time into building our pro-liberty online networks, websites and email lists.  We simply cannot afford to give Barack Obama the power to dismantle all that at the drop of a hat.

So please, click here to sign your Internet User’s Mandate and if you can make a contribution of $250, $100 or $50 or whatever you want to Campaign for Liberty to stop this power grab…

…to defend our rights…

…and most importantly, to protect this movement.

I trust you’ll join this fight to protect all the progress we’ve made.

In Liberty,

John Tate
President

P.S. The Internet Takeover Bill (S. 773) is threatening to “unplug” private networks from the Internet on the order of the President and dismantle the online army we’ve worked so hard to build.

Dear Friend of Liberty,

What a weekend C4L has had in Valley Forge, PA at our Northeast Regional Conference!

It has been incredibly refreshing to be among over 600 grassroots activists who are not only tired of how their government is acting, but who are ready to go out and take action to reclaim their lives, their neighborhoods, and their country.

Our Conference kicked off on Thursday with Dr. Ron Paul’s first official book signing for his latest work, End the Fed. Hundreds took advantage of the opportunity to get both the book and Dr. Paul’s autograph.

Later that day, Congressman Paul was joined by the American Conservative Defense Alliance’s Phil Giraldi and New Jersey State Assemblyman Mike Doherty for our Freedom Celebration. I greatly enjoyed seeing the fired-up crowd flying Gadsden flags as they proudly proclaimed “DONT TREAD ON ME!” Dr. Giraldi spoke on the need to end our interventionist foreign policy, and Assemblyman Doherty talked about his battles against ever-determined big government bureaucrats.

When it came time for Dr. Paul to speak, he was introduced by his son (and chairman of C4L) Ronnie Paul.

Hundreds applauded and cheered as Dr. Paul once again demonstrated why he is, as Judge Andrew Napolitano says, “the Thomas Jefferson of our day.”

On Friday morning, we held a breakfast event with Dr. Paul where he discussed End the Fed. CSPAN’s Book TV filmed the proceedings (set to air tomorrow night). Judge Napolitano brought the crowd to their feet numerous times with his lunchtime speech, and he later answered questions from smaller groups at two private briefings.

As I write this, we are preparing to close the Conference with our “Economic Liberty Symposium,” featuring Tom Woods, Peter Schiff, and British MEP Daniel Hannan. I look forward to seeing these three tremendous leaders in the liberty movement inspire all assembled to continue the hard work of reclaiming our Republic and restoring our Constitution.
